Preparation

I think Yee Sang is a must during Chinese New Year. Family and friends, young and old will take the opportunity to get together to toss the colourful ingradients for a better year ahead. The act of tossing Yee Sang is referred to as 'lou sang' or 'lou hei' and it has gained popularity over the years.

GONG XI GONG XI

Chinese New Year traditionally last from 1st to 15th day of the new year (Cap Goh Mei). These days presents an opportunity for our love ones, friends and relatives to visit each other to offer their good wishes. Red packet (Ang Pau) are given from the older to the younger ones.
Gifts are usually bought when visiting friends or relatives at their home. Mandrain oranges are in season at this time and make very suitable new year present because of the gold colour (which means good luck and prosperity).

Reunion Dinner

According to the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year is celeberated on the new moon of the 1st month. It is also the most important festival in the chinese culture. Most people will have their reunion dinner with family and friends on the eve of the new year. This year we invited our "chan ka" Joanne's parents and brother to join us for the reunion dinner at Nainai Restaurant in Bukit Jalil. I hope everyone enjoyed the food I 'ordered'.
